The top of the stairs

You know the way, the cost and the people. All that's left is a free 20-minute call.

The counselling room seen from its doorway: two armchairs turned towards a sash window, afternoon light on the floorboards and hills beyond
the top of the stairs Twenty minutes, free, by phone or online
what the call is

Twenty minutes with Mari or Dan, on the phone or over a video link, whichever you'd rather. You say a little about what's going on, as much or as little as you like. You ask whatever you want to ask: about the room, the cost, how a session goes, whether it's us you should be talking to at all. We'll tell you honestly.

Mostly it's for getting a feel for one another. People usually know by the end whether the voice on the line is someone they could talk to.

what it isn't

It isn't an assessment, and nobody will take you through a list of questions. It isn't a first session, so there's nothing to prepare. And it isn't a commitment: if you'd rather leave it there, you say so, or simply don't ring back, and that's the end of it. No fee, no follow-up chasing you.

What you tell us on the call is private in the same way a session is. How private it is, including the one limit, is set out plainly.

Get in touch however suits you at this hour.

ring 01632 960 527

If we're in a session the phone goes to a message. Leave your name and number and one of us will ring you back.

write hello@example.com

A line or two is plenty. You don't need to explain anything in writing that you'd rather say out loud.

or use the form

Three things, and we'll get back to you to arrange a time for the call. Messages come straight to Mari and Dan and are answered by one of us, not a service.

A phone number or an email address, whichever you'd rather we used.
Who would you like to speak to?

Nothing is booked by sending this. We'll only use your details to get back to you. How we keep things private.

How we handle what you send us

the telephone, or the form Answered personally by Mari or Dan

Online, from wherever you are.

If Hebden Bridge isn't somewhere you can get to, none of this changes. The call works the same way by video as by phone, and sessions online are the same 50 minutes with the same two people at the same fee. We see people from all over the UK this way.

The form above or an email is the easiest way to begin; just say you'd be joining online, and we'll send a link when the time is arranged.

A quiet stone side street in Hebden Bridge leading to a bookbinder's lit window, with a plain door beside it
The bookbinder's window, and our door just beside it.

We're on a side street in Hebden Bridge, a few minutes' walk from the centre. Look for the bookbinder's on the ground floor; our door is the plain one beside the shop window, with our name on a small card. Come in, and it's one flight of stairs, a landing, and the door on your left.

We'd rather tell you the street than print it, so the exact directions come with the free call, along with where people usually park and which bus stops nearby. If the stairs are a difficulty for you, say so when we speak and we'll work something out.
